Concord, NH – Senate President Chuck Morse (R-Salem) and Majority Leader Jeb Bradley (R-Wolfeboro) issued the following statements today following the recommendation vote of Medicaid Expansion Commission:
Senate President Morse said: “I applaud the work done by the members of the Medicaid Expansion Commission and thank them for the many hours they devoted to this difficult and complex topic. I was pleased the commission expressed support for providing access to private insurance for low-income New Hampshire citizens as a means of reducing the number of uninsured in our state. That provision is a good starting point toward finding common ground, and I look forward to the beginning of the legislative process that will hopefully bring us full-circle to a bi-partisan New Hampshire solution.”
Senate Majority Leader Jeb Bradley said: “While there are elements in the committee’s recommendations that are worthy of consideration, it’s important to recognize that any legislative solution we consider be based upon private insurance and that all necessary federal waivers be in place prior to the program’s start in order to protect both patients and taxpayers.
