NHDP Statement on Bill O’Brien Protégé Marilinda Garcia Entering CD-2 Primary

Concord – New Hampshire Democratic Party Communications Director Harrell Kirstein released the following statement on Tea Party Republican State Representative Marilinda Garcia entering the Republican primary for Congress in New Hampshire’s second district.
“Only a Tea Party ideologue like Marilinda Garcia would pander to disgraced former Speaker Bill O’Brien when kicking-off a run for Congress.   She told the Union Leader, that she “hopes to bring to Washington” the same reckless and irresponsible ideology she and O’Brien forced on New Hampshire.  From imposing new restrictions on women’s health care services to having state government interfere with the rights of businesses and their employees to freely negotiate contracts, Garcia’s priorities are not New Hampshire’s.
“With two of O’Brien’s loyal rubber-stamps seeking the Republican nomination; New Hampshire voters should brace themselves for Garcia and Lambert's inevitable reckless race to pander to same extreme right fringe of the Republican Party that forced the federal government shutdown.”
Garia voted for reckless new restrictions on women’s health services. Garcia voted to force doctors to provide false and inaccurate information to patients, such as stating that abortions cause breast cancer. [HB1659, Roll Call #69, 4/25/2012]
Garcia voted for the reckless and irresponsible O’Brien-Bradley budget.  The O’Brien-Bradley job killing budget severely cut essential health services for the elderly and disabled, made the largest cut to public higher education and instead provided corporate tax giveaways to big tobacco companies. Garcia voted for interfering in the right of business and employees to freely negotiate.  Rep. Garcia voted for HB 474, the so-called “Right to Work” bill that would have directly interfered with the rights of businesses and their employees to freely negotiate contracts.
