Concord - New Hampshire Republican State Committee Chairman Jennifer Horn today called on Senator Jeanne Shaheen to join President Obama in apologizing for misleading people about the disastrous consequences of ObamaCare. In an interview with NBC News last night, the President bowed to mounting pressure and apologized for making false promises about being able to keep your health insurance under ObamaCare (New York Times, 11/7/2013.)
"Senator Jeanne Shaheen cast the deciding vote in favor of ObamaCare and she dishonestly promised her constituents that this disastrous law would allow them to keep their health insurance if they liked it. That statement was clearly false, but Senator Shaheen has refused to own up to her mistake and apologize to New Hampshire," said NHGOP Chairman Jennifer Horn. "If President Obama is willing to apologize for lying to the American people about the disastrous consequences of ObamaCare, Senator Shaheen should offer a similar apology for spreading the same lies. An apology won't undo the damage caused by ObamaCare, but Granite Staters expect their elected officials to be honest and admit when they are wrong."
In an October 15, 2009 speech on the floor of the Senate, Shaheen dishonestly claimed "everyone will have the freedom to keep their health care plan if they like it," under ObamaCare.
In an August 2009 teletown hall, Shaheen misled a voter from Salem who asked her if he could keep his health insurance under ObamaCare.
"If you have health coverage that you like you can keep it," said Shaheen.
