Citizens Report: Kuster video, Sign our petition, Thank you Ayotte

The video seen by hundreds of thousands: Rep. Kuster's disastrous lack of a response to questions about Benghazi

As you might have heard, at a recent event in Manchester, Rep. Annie Kuster (NH-02), who seemed clueless on the issue, dodged a question regarding the attacks in Benghazi that resulted in the deaths of four Americans. When pressed further, she explained that her reason for refusing to answer questions on Benghazi was because she"was not [there] to talk about it. We're here to talk about the Middle East."

If you haven't seen it yet, video of her refusal to answer the question can be viewed here.

Derek Dufresne, Spokesman for Citizens for a Strong New Hampshire, released the following statement after the video went viral, which was mentioned in the Union Leader's coverage of the story:

"The fact that Rep. Annie Kuster refuses to respond to questions about an event that resulted in the death of four Americans is indefensible. In addition, it also raises serious questions as to whether her seemingly puddle deep understanding of the attack in Benghazi extends to all foreign policy issues.

"Since being sworn into office, Rep. Annie Kuster has refused to host a Town Hall meeting to discuss the important issues facing our country with her constituents. Her abysmal attempt to dodge questions from Granite Staters regarding an attack in Benghazi is likely why she hides from any public forums, however that is no excuse. Residents of New Hampshire's 2nd Congressional District deserve to know if their congresswoman actually understands the issues she votes on."

Sign our petition to Rep. Kuster on Benghazi

During Rep. Kuster's disastrous response regarding the attacks in Benghazi, Rep. Annie Kuster was asked specifically about H. Res. 36. This is legislation authored by Rep. Frank Wolf of Virginia that would create a select committee to investigate and report on the attack of the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya.

Citizens for a Strong Hampshire is calling on Rep. Kuster to support H. Res. 36. Click here to learn more and to sign our petition asking the congresswoman to co-sponsor the legislation immediately. Then, forward it to others encouraging them to sign as well.

Thank you, Senator Ayotte for opposing the current budget proposal

On Thursday evening, Senator Kelly Ayotte joined several conservatives in opposition to a budget agreement being discussed in Congress that increases spending, raises fees, and does nothing to stop the crushing debt and deficits Washington continues to pass onto our children and grandchildren.

In a statement, Senator Kelly Ayotte said that she could not support the budget agreement because it failed to address the biggest drivers of our nation's skyrocketing debt, but instead pays for more federal spending by cutting retirement benefits for active duty and military retirees by $6 billion. Senator Ayotte was quoted as saying "I cannot support a budget agreement that fails to deal with the biggest drivers of our debt, but instead pays for more federal spending on the backs of our active duty and military retirees - those who have put their lives on the line to defend us."

We thank Senator Ayotte for taking this principled stand and encourage all Granite Staters to contact her at 202-224-3324. Sadly, but not unexpectedly, Congresswoman Shea-Porter (NH-01) and Congresswoman Kuster (NH-02) voted for it on Thursday evening.
