Jeanne Shaheen needs to stand up to do what's right for America's bravest
Concord - Sending a big lump of coal to America's military, Congresswomen Carol Shea-Porter and Annie Kuster voted last night in favor of a backroom budget deal that stands to slash retirement pay for military retirees. According to the Military Officers Association of America, the bill delivers annual reductions in the Cost of Living Adjustment that "will result in reducing retired pay by nearly 20 percent between the age at retirement and 62."
"Carol Shea-Porter and Annie Kuster have turned their backs on America's bravest, voting to cut military benefits rather than have the spine to cut bloated federal spending. They voted for a backroom deal that sells out active duty troops and New Hampshire's military retirees by slashing military retirement benefits. It's a big lump of coal for the men and women who have put their lives on the line to protect our country and our freedoms, said NHGOP Chairman Jennifer Horn. "This is a raw deal for the men and women of our armed services, and Jeanne Shaheen can help stop it. Jeanne Shaheen needs to stand up to her party to do what's right for America's troops and military retirees. This is a gut check moment for Jeanne Shaheen, and military families in New Hampshire are watching. If she turns her back on the men and women who have risked their lives to defend our nation, they'll never forget it."
