NHGOP CALLS ON HASSAN TO STATE POSITION ON NEW PROPOSAL FOR GAS TAX HIKE

Concord - New Hampshire Republican State Committee Chairman Jennifer Horn called on Governor Maggie Hassan to state her position on a gas tax increase. The Nashua Telegraph (12/4/13) reports that Hassan's Transportation Commissioner called for a new gas tax hike yesterday.

"A devastating gas tax hike during a recession is bad policy, and it will unfairly burden commuters and hurt small businesses. Governor Hassan needs to tell her constituents if she agrees with her Transportation Commissioner's renewed calls for a gas tax hike on working families.

"Unlike former Governor John Lynch, Governor Hassan has repeatedly refused to rule out a gas tax increase. Its time for Hassan to follow Lynch's lead and protect Granite Staters by finally pledging to veto any increase in the gas tax."
