Chuck Hagel, Obama’s Pick for Sec’y of Defense, Stirs Heated Controversy, Appointment Blocked Former Senator Chuck Hagel has questionable ties that bear scrutiny, and his contributions from foreign donors may have broken federal law. The arrogance that gives an individual the audacity to thumb his nose at federal law and the US Congress is deplorable, but when that individual becomes a senior official in the federal government, the consequences may be dire for the nation. . . . . .

NEW: Gun Control Controversy: Colorado Passes Four New Gun Laws; Minnesota, Missouri Aim to Follow Suit, but Montana and Several Hundred Sheriffs Go Another Way
Colorado's House has passed four new strict gun control laws, but he discussion has only just begun, and it goes on, state by state. In Utah, only one sheriff of 28 did not sign a letter to President Obama, urging him not to compromise the 2nd Amendment. They went on to say that they would “enforce the rights guaranteed to our citizens by the Constitution. No federal officials will be permitted to descend upon our constituents and take from them what the Bill of Rights — in particular Amendment II — has given them.” . . . .
NEW: Middle East: Hamas Opening Official Military School to Teach Children to Kill Jews In a recent festive ceremony, Hamas’ Minister of Education celebrated the end of the Youth Battalions’, and announced that his ministry’s intention will establish the first military school in the Gaza Strip. Its activities will include a strong element of paramilitary training aimed against Israel. During the ceremony, Ismail Haniyeh admitted that the program is sponsored by the military wing of Hamas (Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades). He called for its continuation and transformation into a “jihadist and educational program” that will become a permanent part of the official agenda and strategy of the Ministry of Education.
NEW: Hezbollah Moves into South Lebanese Villages, Uses Lebanese Homes Along Israeli Border for Weapons Hezbollah is implementing a major social/real-estate project that has bolstered its political standing: It purchased lands on the outskirts of the villages, built homes on these lands, and offered them to poor Shiite families at bargain prices (to rent or buy), one the condition that at least one rocket launcher would be placed in one of the house’s rooms or in the basement, along with a number of rockets, which will be fired at predetermined targets in Israel when the order is given. . . . .
