LACONIA – Governor Maggie Hassan continued her statewide “Innovate NH” tour today with a visit to New Hampshire Ball Bearings’ (NHBB) Astro Division, where she toured the company’s operations, met with employees, and highlighted the need to help New Hampshire’s people develop skills for jobs in an innovative economy.
New Hampshire Ball Bearings, Inc. is a leading manufacturer of precision bearings and complex bearing assemblies for the aerospace, defense, medical, dental, and high-technology markets. NHBB has partnered with higher education institutions, including Lakes Region Community College, to develop the workforce training programs needed to fill jobs at the company.
Governor Hassan’s balanced budget proposal begins to implement her “Innovate NH” jobs plan to build a strong, highly skilled workforce that will attract innovative businesses and good jobs. Her proposal substantially restores cuts made to New Hampshire’s public universities and community colleges in exchange for freezing in-state tuition for the next two years in order to make higher education more affordable and accessible.
Hassan's “Innovate NH” tour features stops across New Hampshire, including visits to innovative businesses and discussions with local leaders, educators and citizens, as part of her efforts to reach out to Granite Staters for their input on building a stronger, more innovative New Hampshire.
