Gov. Hassan Proclaims March, 2013 American Red Cross Month

A Proclamation

 

AMERICAN RED CROSS MONTH

MARCH, 2013

 

WHEREAS, New Hampshire residents have always shown an abundance of humanitarian care and compassion for those in need, and New Hampshire is a place where neighbors take care of neighbors and are willing to reach out beyond state borders to care for others in need; and

WHEREAS, The American Red Cross in New Hampshire reflects that compassion by providing our citizens with disaster response and emergency preparedness training; and

WHEREAS, The people of New Hampshire have shown generous support of the Red Cross mission in New Hampshire; and

WHEREAS, The Red Cross of New Hampshire responds to hundreds of disasters each year, including many local residential fires, regional floods, and widespread power outages; and

WHEREAS, The Red Cross of New Hampshire and its volunteers respond swiftly, generously and in overwhelming numbers during times of need, being among the first on the scene of disasters to provide disaster victims with food, clothing, shelter, grief counseling and more; and

WHEREAS, Our residents turn to the New Hampshire Red Cross chapters for health and safety classes, volunteer opportunities, and many other ways to help prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies, making this state stronger and safer; and

WHEREAS, The Red Cross of New Hampshire continues to provide support and comfort to our military personnel and their families; and

WHEREAS, The critical blood supplies at New Hampshire hospitals and other healthcare facilities are collected by the American Red Cross; and

WHEREAS, Last year thousands of our residents chose the Red Cross of New Hampshire as the place to donate the “gift of life” and thousands more turned to the Red Cross to learn lifesaving skills such as first aid and CPR; and

WHEREAS, In celebrating American Red Cross Month, we celebrate the humanitarian and volunteer spirit here in New Hampshire and all across America;

 

NOW, THEREFORE, I, MARGARET WOOD HASSAN, GOVERNOR of the State of New Hampshire, do hereby proclaim MARCH, 2013 as AMERICAN RED CROSS MONTH in the State of New Hampshire and encourage all citizens to continue to donate blood, volunteer their time, and give generously to the American Red Cross and its local chapters.
