1,130 days... 3 years, 1 month, and 2 days... 161 weeks and 2 days... That's how long it took Senator Jeanne Shaheen to finally start listening to Granite Staters about the concerns they have regarding Obamacare, which was signed into law by President Obama on March 23, 2010 and strongly supported by Senator Shaheen.
The following was in today's New York Times article titled Democratic Senators Tell White House of Concerns About Health Care Law Rollout
Senator Jeanne Shaheen, Democrat of New Hampshire, who is up for re-election next year, said, "We are hearing from a lot of small businesses in New Hampshire that do not know how to comply with the law."
These statements come on the heels of an April 11th 2013 WMUR/UNH Poll that said the following:
Support for the Affordable Care Act has declined in recent months among Granite Staters. In the most recent Granite State Poll, only 34% of New Hampshire adults favor the legislation, 49% oppose it, and 17% are neutral or don't know enough about it to say.
Derek Dufresne, Spokesman for Citizens for a Strong New Hampshire, released the following statement:
"From increasing healthcare premiums and higher taxes to more spending and loss of jobs, Granite Staters have been trying to get Senator Jeanne Shaheen to understand their opposition to Obamacare for years. Sadly though, they have been ignored despite the fact that Americans have seen the cost of healthcare increase by $3,000.
"Senator Shaheen's comments yesterday raise an important question. Why does it take plummeting poll numbers to make her concerned about her constituents? Granite Staters deserve a senator who will fight for them every day of the year, not just when it is politically beneficial."
Citizens for a Strong New Hampshire encourages Granite Staters to call Sen. Jeanne Shaheen at 202-224-2841 and tell her to stop playing politics with their healthcare and start standing up for us in Washington.
