Concord - New Hampshire Republican State Committee Chairman Jennifer Horn released the following statement on the Republican state Senate rejecting the gas and cigarette tax hikes passed by the Democrat State House
"Today's votes remind Granite Staters that the Republican leadership in the state Senate is the only thing standing between working families and the Democrats' devastating tax hikes. Senate Republicans are working to craft a responsible budget that keeps spending under control, increases funding for essential services and preserves the New Hampshire Advantage.
"Governor Hassan's attempt to craft and pass a budget has been an unmitigated disaster for her administration and exposed her weak leadership. For months, the governor has acted irresponsibly by refusing to outline a "Plan B" as an alternative to her reckless proposal. Now that the Democrat-controlled House has overwhelmingly rejected her budget, Governor Hassan needs to immediately outline a new plan to balance our books. New Hampshire is facing serious fiscal challenges, and the state can't afford more incompetence, ineffective management and half-baked proposals from our governor."
