CONCORD – Today House Republican Leader Gene Chandler (R-Bartlett) offered the following statement in reaction to the House vote to kill SB153, a bill that would have provided for legislative oversight of collective bargaining agreements entered into by the State via a vote of the Fiscal Committee. The House voted 191-135 to kill the bill.
House Republican Leader Gene Chandler (R-Bartlett)
“Given that the terms of the collective bargaining agreements can dramatically affect the State’s fiscal health in both the short and long term, it would only make sense to allow for some legislative oversight into these types of expenditures. A similar approval process is already in place for county and municipal employees. We should be able to trust our colleagues on the Fiscal Committee to make reasonable decisions on these matters.”
