"As a deer longs for flowing streams, so my soul longs for you, O God."  Psalm 42:1

Greetings from the NH Bible Society

There are days when we are especially aware of our longing for God.   The bombing in Boston, earthquake in China, explosion in Texas, and building collapse in Pakistan-all of these and more make us starkly aware of the fragility of life.

When our spirits are dried up by the world God in Christ invites us to drink. "Come to me, all who are heavy laden and I will give you rest." Together we often we affirm with the psalmist, "he leads me beside still waters...".

When the times make us fearful the ears and hearts around us can be newly open. Not only do we have a personal opportunity to deepen our faith, we may find new opportunities to reach out to others who are also absorbing lots of bad news and may be very thirsty for the Good News of life.

The NH Bible Society takes seriously its mission to share and spread God's Word. After 200 years we continue to see our role as being partners with you-- strengthening and supporting your ministries whatever form they take.

And, after an extended time of prayerful discernment the Society's Board of Directors has set forth a renewed core purpose statement for these unprecedented times.  It is rooted in the rich history of our past AND it reaches forward joining God's work in our state today:

"The Bible Society of New Hampshire seeks to put God's Word into the hands, head and hearts of the people of New Hampshire in a form and language they can best understand."

You will see this on all "our stuff" from now on. Look for it-please share it, use it in your ministries. We continue to invite you to be in touch if we can help support your ministries with scripture resources. (And don't forget in these demanding days to drink at the well of Living Water yourself.)

Blessings in His Name,

Linda Lea Snyder

Interim Director

An invitation from the
New Hampshire Bible Society

This is the season of celebrating life and faith milestones. Graduation, Children's Day, teacher recognition-- what great gifts a brand new bible can make on such occasions.

We invite you to visit our office and small bookshop at 125 Airport Rd., Concord and look around or to be in touch electronically at You can call M-Th between 9 am-3 pm and talk to Susan about your needs. Right now we have on hand many no cost soft-cover youth New Testaments (TIV) and Spanish-language New Testaments with Psalms/Proverbs.

We have on hand many, many bibles-- children's bibles, student bibles, hard and soft cover gift bibles and bibles of special interest (i.e. campers, sports, bikers, veterans etc.) in various translations so there is something for every individual. Whether you pick up or have us order many are available at low or no cost through our grant program.

With prayers for your ministry we hope to see or hear from you soon!

Stay Tuned
You may have heard spots on NH Gospel Radio leading up to Easter that were sponsored by the NH Bible Society (91.1 FM in Concord, 91.5 FM in Lakes Region). We offer these to encourage thoughtfulness about scripture and to place in listeners' hearts a chosen verse and word from God each day. Tune in-- we plan to step up the frequency of these in the coming weeks.

There are so many different bibles available and it would be impossible to describe them all. We will showcase one here each month to give you a taste.

The DISCOVER'S BIBLE is designed especially for early readers.  Published by Zonderkidz it is physically appealing with a glossy hardcover with brightly colored illustrations throughout. The text is in 14 type and in the very accessible NlrV translation (New International Reader's Verson) and contains a presentation page, beautifully done maps, and a user-friendly guide of 150 of the most well-known Bible stories. Cost is $13.99 (grants may be available to cover all or part of this expense.) Drop in to have a look, email, or give a call to learn more about it or to check out others that might be of particular interest.

The Bible Society Board of Directors

The Board of Directors and the society's executive director form the backbone of the ministry we share with so many folks around NH.

Right now we are seeking individuals who maybe interested in serving on our Board of Directors, which meet once a month in Concord. Board members are invited and expected to participate in directly carrying out our mission in increasingly expansive ways. Members offer time, talent, and sometimes even treasure to keep us strong. If you feel a resonance with our core purpose: getting the Living Word of God "into the hands, hearts and heads of the people of New Hampshire in a form and language they can understand," please be in touch.
