Concord - New Hampshire Republican State Committee Chairman Jennifer Horn released the following statement today on Governor Hassan's proposed last minute state employee pay raise:

"While we value the hard work and dedication of our state employees, Governor Hassan's decision to give away a $38 million pay raise during the 11th hour of budget negotiations is extremely irresponsible.  The Governor never included this expense in her failed budget proposal and she has no idea how she is going to pay for it. Instead of presenting a plan to meet this new financial obligation, she is trying to pass the buck and force the legislature to figure out how to cover her last minute spending spree.

"This is just another example of Governor Hassan's failed fiscal leadership and inability to responsibly manage state finances. Instead of working with the legislature, the Governor has refused to present any ideas to balance our books since the Democrat-controlled House rejected her proposal. Hassan continues to prove that she is in over her head and unable to provide the responsible fiscal leadership that Granite Staters expect from their governor."
