Concord - New Hampshire Republican State Committee Chairman Jennifer Horn released the following statement tonight on Republican Joe Osgood's victory in the Claremont House special election. Osgood will fill a seat formerly occupied by a Democrat, and his victory represents the first special election pick up for either party in New Hampshire this year.

"I want to congratulate Joe Osgood for running an outstanding campaign that focused on the traditional Republican principles of limited taxation, smaller government and fiscal restraint. Joe is an experienced public servant and he will make an excellent addition to our principled and responsible House Republican caucus.

"Tonight's victory is a repudiation of Governor Hassan's irresponsible agenda and her failed fiscal leadership in Concord. Granite Staters realize that the governor has no plan to balance the budget after the Democrat-controlled House rejected her reckless proposal. They understand that the only way to preserve New Hampshire's low tax environment is to elect fiscally responsible Republicans who will oppose Governor Hassan's destructive, big government policies."
