NHGOP STATEMENT ON REPORT SHAHEEN MISSED FILIBUSTER SUMMIT TO ATTEND FUNDRAISER

Concord - New Hampshire Republican State Committee Chairman Jennifer Horn released the following statement on a report that Senator Jeanne Shaheen missed this week's Senate filibuster summit to attend a campaign fundraiser. The New Hampshire Union Leader (7/18/13) reports that Shaheen's office has refuse to describe the 'scheduling conflict' that prevented Shaheen from showing up to the meeting that was attended by 98 of 100 Senators.  New Hampshire Journal (7/18/13) reports that Shaheen was at a campaign fundraiser.

"It is extremely troubling that Jeanne Shaheen has repeatedly refused to tell her constituents why she was unable to represent New Hampshire at this rare and historic Senate filibuster summit. Senator Shaheen is a public official who has an obligation to provide an honest answer about why she was unable to do her job and execute the required duties of her office."

"This report raises very troubling questions about Senator Shaheen's priorities. The Senator needs to break her suspicious silence and immediately offer a truthful explanation in order to maintain the trust of her constituents."
