Opposing S. 761, Sen. Shaheen's 'Energy Savings and Industrial Competitiveness Act of 2013'

This week, groups began to highlight their opposition to legislation Sen. Shaheen co-authored titled the "Energy Savings and Industrial Competitiveness Act of 2013." This bill claims to promote energy savings in industrial and commercial buildings by authorizing the use of your hard-earned tax dollars to make them more efficient, but as highlighted in the group's opposition, these "incentives" would burden taxpayers and consumers alike while producing no tangible benefits.

Citizens for a Strong New Hampshire agrees with the opposition highlighted this week regarding Sen. Shaheen's legislation. Most specifically, we concur with their findings that "like most government-initiated efficiency programs, this one is fatally flawed because it is based on the idea that businesses and families will act irrationally unless the government intervenes."

Look for more from Citizens for a Strong New Hampshire regarding S. 761 next week.
