The Founder and Chairman of the American Principles Project (APP), Professor Robert P. George, was recently sworn in as the Chairman of the U.S Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF).
USCIRF is an independent, bipartisan U.S. federal government commission that monitors the universal right to freedom of religion or belief abroad and makes policy recommendations to the President, Secretary of State, and Congress. USCIRF Commissioners are appointed by the President and the leadership of both political parties in the Senate and House of Representatives.
“I [am] profoundly united in our commitment to the precious right of religious freedom for all and to the cause of defending the victims of persecution and injustice across the globe,” stated Professor George at his swearing in at the Supreme Court on Monday, September 9.

Common Core Standards are Destructive to America’s Future
The American Principles Project (APP), the Heartland Institute and Pioneer Institute, co-hosted a one-day conference at Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana, Monday, to discuss the destructive implications of the Common Core Standards and the future of the education of America’s youth.
More than 200 people were in attendance at the sold out conference. Among the states represented were California, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Michigan, Missouri, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, and West Virginia; most of which have strong grassroot movements fighting against the Common Core.

Federal Reserve Needs Course Change with New Leadership
APP Policy Director Jeffrey Bell appeared on a recent podcast with The Heartland Institute to discuss the upcoming nomination for the new Chair of the Federal Reserve and the future change that needs to come with the leadership change. President Obama is considering several replacements for current Federal Reserve Chairman, Ben Bernanke, whose term expires in early 2014, but none would be a step in the right direction.
