NHDP - NH Dems Launch New Web Effort On Medicaid Expansion

Concord - Ahead of the renewed effort to expand Medicaid by House Democrats the New Hampshire Democratic Party is launching a new online effort to show taxpayers across the state exactly how much Republicans are costing them.  The new website, which shows in real time how much the Senate Republicans' reckless decision to block expansion is costing us both at the state level and in individual Senate districts, can be found at www.nhdp.org/MedicaidExpansion
As the clock struck midnight on January 1st, New Hampshire began losing $500,000 every day.  Moving forward with Medicaid Expansion would expand health insurance access to 58,000 Granite Staters, bring $2.5 billion into the New Hampshire economy, create 700 jobs, and save the state $92 million. Unfortunately, despite bipartisan support for expansion Tea Party Republicans in the State Senate refused to compromise and blocked this fiscally responsible initiative.
"This new organizing tool will allow concerned taxpayers across the state to communicate exactly how much their Republican State Senators siding with the Tea Party over the people of New Hampshire is costing constituents second by second, in real time," said New Hampshire Democratic Party Communications Director Harrell Kirstein.  "Republicans refusal to compromise is hurting thousands of working Granite State families who would have had expanded access to health insurance, and sending money New Hampshire paid in federal taxes to states like New Jersey, Arizona, and Ohio where conservative Republican Governors have opted for this commonsense expansion."
