State of the Union Highlights Years of Obama/Shaheen Broken Promises
Speech Described as Small Ball by Journalists & Pundits Leaves Jeanne Shaheen at a loss

Last night's State of the Union speech amounted to little more than another political campaign speech, this time designed to rally the most liberal voters in the Democratic base.  Ahead of the address , the Associated Press referred to the President's speech as an "opening salvo for the 2014 elections."  Yet that salvo comes from a position of weakness.  As the Associated Press story notes, "...Obama's signature legislative feat, his health care law, remains unpopular across the country. Unemployment's still high."

Most Americans (and Granite Staters) are tired of broken promises, tired of actions not reflecting speeches.  According to a new ABC News/Washington Post poll, just 37% of Americans express confidence in President Obama to make the right decisions for the country’s future. In a separate NBC/WSJ poll, an astounding 68% say that our country has remained stagnant or has gotten worse off since President Obama and Democrats took control of Washington.

This comes as no surprise and matches polling in New Hampshire where even a recent liberal PPP Poll shows Jeanne Shaheen facing an increasingly difficult road ahead. Shaheen’s approval dropped to 44% (from 49% in September PPP Poll). Shaheen’s numbers are down, and there are more undecided voters, showing more are up for grabs.

President Obama and Democrats in the Senate like Jeanne Shaheen have controlled Washington for the last five years and promised Granite Staters that if they followed their path, jobs would be created. They promised that health care would become more affordable. They promised that those in poverty would have opportunity while those working paycheck-to-paycheck would rise up the economic ladder. They've failed to deliver on any of those promises. Instead, they've broken their promises and deceived voters to pass a partisan, ideological agenda: from their stimulus that failed to jump start the economy, to driving up our debt to unsustainable levels, raising taxes to fund wasteful government spending, to ObamaCare which jeopardizes Americans' current insurance and doctors.

Simply put, over the past five years Democrats have proven that they not only don't have the right solutions to get America growing again, they lack the credibility to be trusted to keep their promises.

"President Obama's 'year of action' strategy sends the clear message that Majority or not, Jeanne Shaheen is irrelevant, so it's no wonder most Granite Staters want to elect someone new," said NRSC  Press Secretary Brook Hougesen. "Over the past five years Barack Obama and Jeanne Shaheen have proven that they not only don't have the right solutions to get America growing again, they lack the credibility to be trusted to keep their promises."
