BROWN CAMPAIGN RELEASES NEW TV AD: “SHAHEEN’S SMEAR”
“After six years of voting with President Obama, Senator Shaheen has resorted to a smear campaign”
MANCHESTER - Today, the Brown campaign released a new TV ad titled: “Shaheen’s Smear.” The 30-second spot refutes a false negative attack ad released by Jeanne Shaheen on Tuesday that shamefully distorts Scott Brown’s record on women’s health care.
In the ad, Brown talks directly to the camera about his true record as a “pro-choice” Republican who supports “continued funding of Planned Parenthood” and believes women “should have access to contraception.”
In closing, Brown points to Shaheen’s record of blindly supporting President Obama 99% of the time as her motivation to launch a “smear campaign” that is intended to distract voters and scare women.
On Tuesday, Brown addressed Shaheen’s smear campaign in Derry, describing her lies as “not only insensitive, but it is also deeply offensive” to women. Brown also recounted a childhood of abuse and “protecting women since my mom was being beaten, at 5 years old, when I came to her rescue.” As a senator, he voted for the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) and against cuts to Planned Parenthood. He was one of few Republicans to support Jeanne Shaheen’s amendment to protect female service members who are the victims of rape.
