Call For People's Pledge Comes On Same Weekend She Attending West Coast DSCC Fundraisers
Concord - On the same weekend that she is on the West Coast participating in a series of high-priced fundraisers sponsored by the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen hypocritically called for an end to outside money in politics.
Shaheen's left coast swing comes on the heels of her attendance last month at the San Francisco millionaire Tom Steyer, a radical environmentalist who has pledged to spend upwards of $100 million in outside ads benefitting Democratic candidates this fall. Demonstrating her strong support of Steyer, Shaheen also participated in the Democrats' meaningless all-night talkathon on the Senate floor to push their agenda of cap and trade and higher energy prices.
"For Senator Shaheen to be speaking out against outside money on the same weekend she is in California lining the coffers of her third-party special allies goes beyond the normal levels of hypocrisy from Washington politicians," said New Hampshire Republican State Committee Chairman Jennifer Horn. "After six years of voting down the line for President Obama'a left-wing agenda, it's clear Jeanne Shaheen is more comfortable in the living rooms of San Francisco environmentalists than she is with New Hampshire families. But her stunt today represents D.C. politics at its very worst. New Hampshire voters are smart enough to see through Jeanne Shaheen's hypocrisy and double standards."
According to the left-wing fundraising out aggregator Act Blue, Shaheen is attending at least three California fundraisers this weekend:
