During the telephone meeting, she told a constituent that she continues to support Obamacare and that she's beginning to see "positive results" and "hear positive stories" about a law that a majority of her constituents are opposed to.
Senator Shaheen made these stunning comments despite the following:
- Despite her "Lie of the Year," 22,000 Granite Staters have lost their insurance because of her vote for Obamacare.
- A New Hampshire hospital CEO located in her home county recently said that the "Affordable Care Act has been a disaster."
- Reports from health industry officials that "areas of the country with older, sicker or smaller populations are likely to be hit hardest" with Obamacare-related premium hikes.
Derek Dufresne, spokesman for Citizens for a Strong New Hampshire, released the following statement:
"Considering she cast the deciding vote for Obamacare and she continues to vote with President Obama 99% of the time, we aren't too surprised Senator Jeanne Shaheen still stands by the law even as it crumbles. However, her misguided and delusional belief that Granite Staters are feeling 'positive effects' from a failing Obamacare would be laughable if it didn't have such serious consequences.
"From likely Obamacare-related premium hikes to 22,000 Granite Staters being kicked-off their original healthcare plans, New Hampshire is hurting because of her vote for Obamacare. Senator Shaheen would do herself well to finally have an honest conversation with her constituents about how badly the failing law is hurting them and their families. If she continues to only spend time with wealthy liberal donors in California and the most extreme members of her party on Capitol Hill, she will never understand why her beliefs about Obamacare are so out of touch with those she is supposed to represent"
