Concord - Governor Maggie Hassan is refusing to appear at an event hosted by President Barack Obama in Connecticut tomorrow with every other Northeast Democrat governor. Governors Deval Patrick (D-MA) Dannel Malloy (D-CT), Peter Shumlin (D-VT) and Lincoln Chaffee (D-RI) will join Obama on Wednesday to push for a minimum wage hike (USA Today, 3/4/14.) WMUR-TV reports that Governor Hassan Is blaming her glaring absence on a "scheduling conflict."
"Its not surprising that Governor Hassan is snubbing President Obama given his plummeting poll numbers in New Hampshire. Governor Hassan is trying to run from the president's abysmal record, but she can't hide from the fact that she has been a loyal supporter of his disastrous agenda and an enthusiastic proponent of ObamaCare," said NHGOP Chairman Jennifer Horn. "Granite Staters realize that Governor Hassan is a pawn of the Obama Administration and they are looking to replace her with a fiscally responsible Republican governor in November who will stand up for New Hampshire."
According to a recent UNH poll 51% of New Hampshire adults disapprove of the job Obama is doing as president and only 42% approve.
