Gosnell Movie Smashes through half a million dollars on crowdfunding site

Despite facing censorship from Kickstarter, the TV film project on Kermit Gosnell has just smashed through the half a million dollar mark in its record breaking crowdfunding campaign.
The total makes it one of the most successful movie crowdfunding campaigns. With 34 days left the film is already the third most successful film ever on Indiegogo.
Gosnell, a Philidelphia based abortionist, is America's biggest ever serial killer. He is currently serving a number of life sentences for murdering babies at his clinic. Gosnell would induce births of live, viable babies - many of them at seven, eight or nine months - and then kill them by stabbing them and cutting their spinal cord with scissors.
He is thought to have killed thousands in a 40 year killing career. The case attracted huge controversy after much of the media failed to report his arrest and trial amid accusations of liberal bias. The crowdfunding project by filmmakers Ann McElhinney, Phelim McAleer and Magdalena Segieda almost never happened after the biggest crowdfunding website Kickstarter tried to censor the project because the factual description of Gosnell's crimes violated their "community guidelines".

Ann McElhinney said reaching the half million mark was exhilarating.

"This is just fantastic, this is such a strong message from people all over the country voting with their money for the truth. Hollywood and the mainstream media should pay attention, people are angry with them for ignoring the news and the truth. This $500,000 is a strong statement, the people won't wait for Hollywood or the mainstream media, they're fighting back. It's beautiful."

Phelim McAleer said that so many contributors funding the film meant that the establishment media would have to pay attention to the film.
"It's a huge responsibility - all these thousands of people have trusted us to tell this story - truthfully. We take that responsibility seriously and wont let them down."
Magdalena Segieda said:
"I'm delighted that despite the attempted censorship by Kickstarter that nearly shut down our project before we even started, we are getting such an amazing response from the public.

This proves that if you stick to your principles of telling the truth, in this case the gruesome fact of Gosnell's crimes, the people who care about the truth, will stand up and support you."
