DNC - Marco Rubio: Climate Science Denier

In an interview on ABC’s This Week that aired today, Marco Rubio disputed the fact that humans contribute to climate change.

Rubio said, “I don't agree with the notion that some are putting out there including scientists, that somehow, there are actions we can take today that would actually have an impact... I do not believe that human activity is causing these dramatic changes to our climate the way these scientists are portraying.”

With all due respect to Senator Rubio, 97% of climate scientists believe that global warming over the past century is very likely due to human activities.

A report released earlier this week by the Obama Administration confirms that human-caused climate change is affecting every region of the country and key sectors of the economy.

And the facts could not be clearer than in Marco Rubio’s home state of Florida, which is particularly vulnerable to extreme weather, which is accelerated and caused in-part by human activity. In fact, the White House Report found that Miami is one of the most vulnerable cities in the nation to the risk of rising sea levels due to climate change.

It’s clear that Rubio would rather throw red meat to the Tea Party base than objectively look at the science of climate change and support common-sense solutions that will help protect the environment and grow our economy.
