NH GOP - COBURN: ITS TIME FOR SHAHEEN, KUSTER AND SHEA-PORTER TO CALL FOR NEW LEADERSHIP AT DEPARTMENT OF VETERANS AFFAIRS

Concord - New Hampshire Republican State Committee Area Vice Chairman and Air Force veteran Jim Coburn today called on Senator Jeanne Shaheen and Congresswomen Carol Shea-Porter and Annie Kuster to demand new leadership at the Department of Veterans Affairs. Senator Kelly Ayotte and every Republican candidate for federal office has called for new leadership following the scandal at the troubled agency:

"As a former army general and a decorated Vietnam veteran, Secretary Eric Shinseki has served our country with honor and distinction. However, the scandal involving misconduct at Veterans Affairs hospitals that occurred on his watch has undermined confidence in Secretary Shinseki's ability to lead. Its time for the Obama Administration to begin to rebuild the trust that has been lost in the Department of Veterans Affairs by recognizing the need for new leadership and a new secretary.

"Instead of standing up for our fighting men and women, Senator Jeanne Shaheen, Congresswoman Carol Shea-Porter and Congresswoman Annie Kuster have stood with President Obama and refused to call for a new Veterans Affairs secretary.

"This shouldn't be a partisan issue. Its time for Senator Shaheen, Congresswoman Shea-Porter and Congresswoman Kuster to start providing independent leadership for New Hampshire by joining Republicans in calling for a new secretary at the Department of Veterans Affairs."
