Lambert For Congress - Statement on VA Inspector General Report

Nashua – In response to the preliminary report released today by the Veterans Affairs Department’s Inspector General, Marine Corps Reserve Colonel and 2nd Congressional District candidate Gary Lambert released the following statement:

“The findings released today by the VA Inspector General make me sick to my stomach. It is absolutely unconscionable that this type of criminal behavior was allowed to exist in at least 42 VA facilities around the country." said Lambert. "As the IG report states, this is truly a systematic problem and the VA needs fundamental changes in order to ensure this scandal never happens again. Care for veterans is not a partisan issue; it is an American value and therefore deserves a strong, non-partisan response from our elected officials. The first and most obvious step is that Secretary Shinseki needs to resign his post immediately. If he is unwillingly to resign, President Obama should fire him. Furthermore, I call on the Obama Justice Department to begin aggressively pursuing criminal charges for the VA officials who perpetrated this injustice against veterans around the country.
