Concord, NH – Senate Majority Leader Jeb Bradley issued the following statement after House and Senate conferees agreed that they could not reach agreement on SB 307, forming a Study Committee to examine the impact of the Citizens United ruling:
“The Senate voted 23-1 to form this Study Committee to examine the consequences of the Citizens United decision, and other campaign finance rulings. House and Senate conferees met this week, and House conferees agreed to language that authorized a study of Citizens United without predetermining the results of that study. Unfortunately, House conferees later backed away from this agreement, which effectively killed the bill.
“A legislative study should be objective and unbiased but unfortunately the House did not agree and now this bill which had overwhelming bipartisan support will not move forward.”
