As additional reports continue to surface about failures of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, Jim Rubens, Republican candidate for U.S. Senate, condemns Jeanne Shaheen's failure to lead to find solutions to the many problems America's veterans are facing. Responding to a recent report that veterans are waiting years for disability claims appeals, Rubens says:
"New Hampshire residents are fed up to the gills with career politicians like Jeanne Shaheen who issue press releases to deflect attention from their failure to get results. The Senate has been aware of veterans’ disability claims appeals backlogs for years and falsified healthcare wait lists for two years but, despite large increases in funding, these problems remain unresolved. While statements of concern and calls for resignations get headlines, they are not substitutes for leadership and for action."
On April 25 and April 29, 2014, the Jim Rubens for U.S. Senate campaign released statements about reports of veterans dying waiting for health care. Adding that these allegations are not new and appear to be part of a pattern, Rubens further states:
"It turns my stomach to think about government officials profiting while veterans have died waiting for care. This problem was made known to the Senate in April of 2012 and nothing was done about it. New Hampshire needs a new Senator who will force action on issues as critical as veterans care."
