NHDP Statement On Failed Maryland Businessman Walt Havenstein Filing For Office

Concord, NH-- New Hampshire Democratic Party Chairman Ray Buckley issued the following statement today on Walt Havenstein filing his candidacy for Governor.
"If Maryland’s Walt Havenstein manages to get his way on the ballot in our state – which is no sure thing – he’s going to have a difficult time explaining away his record as a failed CEO at defense contractor SAIC and his anti-middle class Koch Brothers agenda.
"Havenstein claims he knows how to manage a budget, but as CEO of SAIC he turned a blind eye for over a year as a doomed project went hundreds of millions of dollars over budget at taxpayers’ expense -- while he made $20 million for himself. Analysts say SAIC struggled under Havenstein’s mismanagement, as he put in place a failed strategy and oversaw job losses, shrinking revenue and a plummeting stock price, while facing contracting scandals.
"And Havenstein’s already showed that he sides with the Bill O'Brien/Koch Brothers agenda of deep budget cuts to critical priorities like higher education and opposing commonsense bipartisan measures like completing I-93 and expanding Medicaid to strengthen the health and economic security of 50,000 Granite Staters. He even vowed to veto a constitutional ban on discrimination based on sexual orientation -- which the Governor doesn't even have the power to do.
"When voters get the facts about Walt’s failed leadership and Koch Brothers agenda, they’ll see he would take New Hampshire in the wrong direction. Our state can't afford his failed leadership."
