Brown spoke briefly to the small group of supporters, many of them veterans who wore patches and hats to distinguish themselves as ex-military.
“We’re in trouble. Deep trouble,” Brown said. “We have a health-care system that doesn’t work, we have a senator who has lost touch with New Hampshire, you’re paying more at the pump, paying more at the checkout counter, for fuel, for food costs. ... You have a chance right now to send a very powerful message to Washington.”
“You’re paying more, your health care is going up, you’re getting less, you’re paying more on your deductibles,” Brown said. “Firefighters, police officers, teachers, you have to tell your union friends that they’re paying basically 40 percent more for health care as a result of Obamacare.”
“We need a voice here that’s for the working class,” Felch said. “Everything in what he said today hit home.”
John Maloney, 61, a Seabrook resident and supporter of Brown at the fund-raiser Tuesday, said he hasn’t liked the direction that current Sen. Jeanne Shaheen has taken New Hampshire in or the votes she’s cast in the U.S. Senate.
“The main thing, she supported Obamacare, essentially stands with the president on issues,” Maloney said.
