Rubens For US Senate - Connecting with the Grassroots

This week was another week of connecting with supporters at parades, house parties, and other events across the state.

We had a wonderful time at the Plaistow Old Home Day.  I got to lead off the parade and was the only U.S. Senate candidate there. Hats off to the Town of Plaistow and the Plaistow Lions Club for putting on a wonderful event!

Other events included a house party in Lebanon, an event at the Vernondale Store, speaking to the Salem GOP, speaking to the Hancock GOP, a reception for Sheriff Hardy, and a house party in Bedford.

In addition to events with grassroots supporters, I faced the tough questions in the media again this week.  On Sunday, WMUR Closeup featured a for forum of the 3 Senate candidates.  If you missed it, you can view it in its entirety here.

During the forum I challenged Senator Brown on his voting record, where he voted 70% of the time with President Obama when he was in office in 2011.  Many people were shocked by this claim.  I myself was shocked that any Republican would vote 70% of the time with the failed policies of the Obama administration.  However it is true, this week Politifact rated the claim "Mostly True" noting that the actual percentage was 69.6%.

Later in the week, I met with the Editorial Board of the Union Leader.  Joe McQuaid, Drew Cline and Dave Solomon of the NH Union Leader asked me the tough questions that their readers, and New Hampshire voters, demand answers to.

I enjoy these back and forth discussions, tackling the tough issues facing our nation.  That is why I pressured Scott Brown into agreeing to two additional debates.  The voters of New Hampshire deserve to hear lively debate on the important issues facing our nation.

This week my op/ed on how we should handle the current situation in Iraq was published in the Concord Monitor among other publications.

Lastly, there are still some spots available for our Golf outing fundraiser on July 14th at the beautiful Owl's Nest Golf Club in Thornton.  Please join us for a great day.
