Republican U.S. Senate candidate Scott Brown said Tuesday that the "war on fossil fuels is not right" and the country needs "truly an all-of-the-above approach" to affordable energy.
Brown recently unveiled his campaign's energy policy and was at Paddy's American Grille in Portsmouth to discuss it with a small group of supporters in a roundtable forum.
He said that in his estimation energy costs are too high and "every penny we save in energy bills can be used for the kids, for the house, for savings, for everything else," he said. He points to a number of reasons, including federal regulations.
He wants to move forward "immediately" with the Keystone XL pipeline and strongly opposes the Environmental Protection Agency's proposed rules on existing power plants released this week.
He said the EPA regulations, which propose a cap on carbon emissions, will cause electricity rates to "go up and up."
