Republican candidate for U.S. Senate Scott P. Brown filed for office in Concord Wednesday afternoon, then traveled to Jaffrey to promote his newly announced energy platform.
Brown touted New England Wood Pellet in Jaffrey as an example of what he called "a successful business making a difference when it comes to energy."
"It's an energy producer, it's one of the biggest in New England," Brown said. "They've got some hardworking employees and they've done some great innovation."
Brown, who is running in the September primary, called his energy platform "an all-of-the-above approach," embracing energy sources including natural gas, nuclear energy and renewable energies in addition to standard fuel sources such as oil and coal.
"With regard to the EPA, it's a wait-and-see approach," Brown said. Pointing to two coal power plants in the state, both run by Public Service of New Hampshire, he said, "they're not quite sure how they're going to be affected, whether they're going to be exempt, but for some other businesses and energy producers it's problematic."
