To the Editor
I Peter Macdonald a 100% disabled US Marine from Lee NH is running for NH State Senate District 21. I came back from the Vietnam Conflict 10/21/74 to a world that I had no memory of the results of a Traumatic Brain Injury. I had no memory of the USA my family or fiends. I was a Sgt in the USMC with no memory of school or what life back here was. I was homeless on the streets of Dover and Portsmouth my first two or so years back. A friend who got back a year before me saw me on the streets and gave me a room in his Dover Apt, got me into UNH and helped me get VA medical care. I started volunteering at the Wentworth Douglas Hospital for the next 15 or so years. My volunteer work includes Portsmouth hospital 1yr, Exeter Hospital 1 yr. Parent child Mediation Strafford County and Rockingham county 3yrs, teaching trash formation art in schools around the state 2 days a week for 20 years, teaching soil conservation for the NH Agricultural Dept Strafford County for many years and helping with the plant and tree sales each year, I volunteer almost every day to help someone old or young with needs that they cannot do them selves. I have also done many hours volunteering for police, fire and other state departments all in my desire to try to fit in back here in a world that I do not belong. The TBI is only one of my four injuries received during my tour in and out of combat filling my obligation to the USA as a member of the US Armed Forces.
My wife and I bought with our own money 11 acres of land at 101 Stepping Stone Rd Lee NH and donated it to a Veterans non-profit to build single person places for Homeless US Military Disabled and Combat Veterans to stay until they find their way back with God and Man’s help. We have the first cabin done and occupied and any one is welcome to come by and have a personal tour. The town of Lee government official said to me “he will never repeat this but the reason the town of Lee is using every effort to stop the Veterans Village of NH because these neighborhoods are made up of Professors and UNH Support Staff and they deserve better than to have these type of people in their neighborhood”. D-Day is a holiday to recognize the men and women that fought to make the USA free and safe for this type of selfish persons and all other US Citizens. Help me get elected so we can stop the silent degrading of our US Military Veterans by government officials that never served.
