Economic Tour Continues with a Focus on the Fishing Industry
This morning, Team Guinta continued its Middle-Class Economic Recovery Tour with a stop in Rye Harbor to meet with commercial fishermen. Frank set out to pull some lobster traps while discussing the problems facing this historic, and significant seacoast industry.
As a Member of Congress, Frank fought for a disaster declaration, and federal relief dollars for New Hampshire's fishermen decimated by the federal government's ill advised catch share program. The declaration was made in September of 2012 and the money was recently appropriated.
He consistently worked in a bipartisan and bicameral manner to ensure our fishermen were protected from burdensome regulations based on incomplete and often inaccurate science.
Frank Guinta released the following statement:
"Weighed down by oppressive and onerous regulations, New Hampshire's centuries old fishing industry continues to try and make a living in spite of the government's attempts to eradicate their profession. The successes we experienced working with members from both political parties and from both houses are perfect examples of what can be accomplished when we put people over politics. I was honored to defend their interests as a member of Congress, and look forward to doing so again next year."
