NRSC - VIDEO: Latest Example of Democrats' Stunning Lack of Awareness

WASHINGTON, D.C. - A new web video was released today to coincide with Barack Obama and Harry Reid's luxurious fundraiser for Democratic Senate candidates in Martha's Vineyard. The Democratic event takes place in the midst of escalating military tension, airstrikes, and political turmoil in Iraq as well as a time of domestic and international unrest and crisis.

At a time when America faces one crisis after another, the Obama Administration and Senate Democrats have proven to be inept at their job, instead prioritizing fundraisers at multimillion-dollar vacation homes and yachts in Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket in lieu of their constituents. Their gross incompetence reveals a stunning lack of awareness that leaves independent voters shaking their heads.

President Obama and Harry Reid are hardly alone. Candidates from Bruce Braley (D-IA) to Mark Begich (D-AK), Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) to Mark Udall (D-CO) have put a priority on raising cash for their own struggling campaigns instead of their official duties.  The Martha's Vineyard fundraiser today should be cancelled, or at least delayed, and a priority put on the issues at hand.

"Bruce Braley misses veterans' hearings to raise cash, Jeanne Shaheen skips out on her official duties to raise cash, and Mark Begich gets caught secretly raising cash in Hawaii instead of focusing on unemployment; it's all part of a larger pattern of incompetence, said NRSC Press Secretary Brook Hougesen. "President Obama and Senate Democratic candidates should cancel or at the very least postpone tonight's luxurious Martha's Vineyard fundraiser, but if history is our guide, they will continue to abandon their official responsibilities to save their precious Senate majority."
