Senator Bob Smith expressed his outrage and disgust of the brutal and cowardly act of the beheading of James Foley of Rochester, NH by the cruel militant group known as ISIS or ISIL.
James Foley was 40 years old. He was one of 5 children of John and Diane Foley of Rochester who remember him as a “born journalist”, saying he was a very professional and courageous journalist merely trying to do his job. Smith added that this was a contemptuous and senseless murder which has no place in a civilized world.
“My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends in New Hampshire,” said Senator Smith. “He gave his life trying to expose the world to the suffering of the Syrian people and we shall never forget him.”
“We’re just praying our government can find a way to save Steven (Steven Scotloff, a second journalist kidnapped in August, 2013) and others who are there,” said Diane Foley. “Let’s come together as a country, please. Jim believed in our country.”
