Fresh off his win in the New Hampshire Republican primary, Scott Brown stopped by Huddleston Hall at the University of New Hampshire on Friday afternoon with Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul to hold a unity rally.

University of New Hampshire Student Body President Joseph Sweeney. also a state representative, kicked off the rally with a passionate speech dedicated to Brown.

“Scott will be an independent voice for our state, fighting for students and their families,” Sweeney said. “The time is now to unify our party and vote for change in November.”

While many of the audience members were college students, Brown made sure to explain to them the importance of taking a hard look at the state the country is in.

“You deserve better. All the challenges we are facing now are going to fall all on you,” Brown said. “We're the party of opportunity. We want you to live the American dream. That's my party, that's who I am. We are Americans first. You're young Americans and the responsibility is going to fall on each and every one of you.”

Many members of the audience agreed with Brown's sentiments.

“He's going down there to do something,” Deb Kajander said. “That's what we need. He's going to listen. What you see is what you get with him.”

Brown's words seemed to strike a chord with young voters as well.

“He's so vocal. He's going to get the job done,” UNH student Marissa Anderson said. “Shaheen has voted with Obama so much. That's so hard to take that down.”

“So far he's definitely the one I'm voting for,” fellow UNH student Katherine Dzenis said. “In terms of what's right, he's there.”
