NHDP - ICYMI: NHGOP Attacks Integrity of New Hampshire Veteran from Their Own Party

Manchester, NH - “Instead of looking in the mirror, the NHGOP is stopping at absolutely nothing to intimidate their ranks into supporting their flawed candidates this November, going so far as to even attack the integrity of a Granite State veteran from their own party,” said New Hampshire Democratic Party Chair Ray Buckley. “Meanwhile, growing numbers of Republicans are backing Senator Shaheen, Governor Hassan and other Democratic leaders because they recognize their bi-partisan work and leadership helping innovative businesses create jobs, expanding middle-class opportunities and moving New Hampshire's economy forward.”

Concord Monitor: GOP support for Democrat Pappas causes dustup

“Attracting endorsements can be a savvy political move and is a staple of every election cycle.

“But they can sometimes cause a stir, as they did this week when 50 Manchester-area Republicans endorsed Democrat Chris Pappas in the race for Executive Council in District 4. The endorsement drew a blistering response from Republican State Committee Chairwoman Jennifer Horn, who said she would enforce party bylaws that prohibit Republicans who support Democrats in 2014 elections from serving on the committee.

“The dustup began Tuesday, when incumbent Pappas, of Manchester, announced the Republicans for Pappas Committee, made up of current and former elected officials, business leaders and community activists from the district’s 19 communities.

“Horn quickly reacted.

“'I am stunned to see that any Republican would put their name on an effort to promote Chris Pappas for Executive Councilor,' she said in a statement. 'Anyone who cares about responsible, limited efficient government can clearly see that Chris Pappas is the wrong man for the job.'

“The dialogue came the same day Gov. Maggie Hassan’s campaign announced that Republican Griffin Dalianis will serve as the chairman of 'Veterans for Hassan,' which includes more than 150 founding members from across New Hampshire.

"'Griff Dalianis has repeatedly endorsed Democrat governors like Jeanne Shaheen and John Lynch who conveniently appointed his wife to the New Hampshire Supreme Court and later rewarded her with a promotion to chief justice. We can only guess what political favor Governor Hassan has offered in return for Griff’s endorsement this year,' said Lauren Zelt, a GOP spokeswoman.”
