Guinta and Garcia Support Holding Government Hostage to Get Their Tea Party Agenda Accomplished, Which Includes Opposing Equal Pay for Equal Work, Criminalizing Abortion and Opposing Increase in Minimum Wage
Manchester, NH – House Speaker and leader of the Tea Party government shutdown, John Boehner, will fundraise for Tea Party candidates Frank Guinta and Marilinda Garcia, who have both pledged that they would support another government shutdown if it meant passing their extreme agendas.
Just last year, Speaker Boehner and his Tea Party allies led a reckless and irresponsible federal government shutdown that impacted tens of thousands of Granite State seniors, students, veterans and middle-class families.
“Last year, John Boehner and his Tea Party allies recklessly shut down the government, damaging our economy and impacting tens of thousands of Granite State seniors, students, veterans and middle-class families. With the support of Frank Guinta and Marilinda Garcia, they would undoubtedly do it again, in order to pass their extreme agenda,” said New Hampshire Democratic Party Deputy Communications Director Bryan Lesswing. “Boehner is helping to bankroll the campaigns of like-minded extremists Guinta and Garcia, because they support his shutdown tactic in order to pass an agenda that includes opposing equal pay for equal work, criminalizing abortion without exceptions and outlawing many common forms of contraception, and denying hard-working families a needed raise by increasing the minimum wage.”
In a recent debate, Garciasaid she'd consider shutting down the government in order to push her extreme agenda. And late last year, the Union Leader reported that Guinta supported House Republican efforts to de-fund the Affordable Care Act “as a condition of keeping the government running.”
