Brown For US Senate - WHAT THEY ARE SAYING: EDITORIAL ENDORSEMENT EDITION

Over the course of the Republican primary season, Scott Brown has earned the endorsement of five New Hampshire newspapers. Below is a sampling of the highlights:

Union Leader: “Unlike Shaheen, who runs from truly open forums, Brown has taken on questions from all comers, critics and hostile Democratic operatives alike.” (Editorial Staff, “For U.S. Senate, “Scott Brown best NH candidate come November”, Union Leader, 8/23/14)
  • “We like Brown because of his blue-collar roots, his many years of service to his country with the National Guard, his work to put himself through law school and the fine family that he and his wife have raised. We also like him because of his common sense approach to issues.” (Editorial Staff, “For U.S. Senate, “Scott Brown best NH candidate come November”, Union Leader, 8/24/14)
Nashua Telegraph: “During his Senate tenure, Brown earned the respect of colleagues for his work on four important committees: Armed Services, Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs, Small Business and Entrepreneurship, and Veterans’ Affairs.” (Editorial Staff, “A candidate for 21st-century NH”, Nashua Telegraph, 8/24/14)
  • “Scott Brown most closely adheres to those fundamental principals that shape the Granite State’s 21st-century identity.” (Editorial Staff, “A candidate for 21st-century NH”, Nashua Telegraph, 8/24/14)
Foster’s Daily Democrat: “But the latter is part of what we like about Brown. It is some of the same guts and gumption that brought us to admire the likes of Sens. Kelly Ayotte and Susan Collins of Maine. There is no “go along to get along bunk” for any of them.” (Editorial Staff, “Brown our choice in the GOP primary”, Foster’s Daily Democrat, 8/10/13)

Portsmouth Herald: “Scott Brown is by far the strongest and most compelling Republican U.S. Senate candidate in Tuesday's primary and he has earned the endorsement of the Seacoast Media Group editorial board.” (Editorial Staff, “Vote for Brown and Stiles in N.H. GOP primary”,
Portsmouth Herald, 9/7/14)
  • “Brown's personal story is compelling. Despite growing up in a dysfunctional and sometimes abusive household, he went to Tufts University and Boston College Law School. He served honorably in the National Guard JAG Corps, retiring this May as a colonel after 35 years.” (Editorial Staff, “Vote for Brown and Stiles in N.H. GOP primary”, Portsmouth Herald, 9/7/14)
  • "While in the Senate, Brown not onlybucked party politics he also took on some of Congress's most corrupt practices, including granting itself the legal right to trade on non-public inside information." (Editorial Staff, “Vote for Brown and Stiles in N.H. GOP primary”, Portsmouth Herald, 9/7/14)
Keene Sentinel: “We felt that, among the GOP candidates, Brown best combines the experience and tools to work effectively in Washington with the ability to reach across the aisle when necessary.” (Editorial Staff, “Scott Brown tops the GOP Senate slate”, Keene Sentinel, 8/28/14)
