Sununu: This election is not about which opponent I'll face, it's about a new direction for our state
EXETER, NH - Today, Executive Councilor Chris Sununu, Republican candidate for governor, issued the following statement regarding the race for governor:
"On Labor Day, I announced my candidacy for governor to begin the hard work of closing New Hampshire's opportunity gap, strengthening education, and ending the heavy-handed government policies that have led to economic stagnation.
"This election is not about which opponent I'll face, it's about a new direction for our state. For almost twenty years, Democrat governors allowed New Hampshire to lose its competitive edge, and now we lag states like Massachusetts in economic opportunity and growth. The politics of 'good enough' was not enough, and it has failed our working families, young people, and small businesses.
"As governor, I will be a problem solver and bring people together to create more opportunity for all, unlocking our state's potential. As governor, I will lead.
"I think the people of New Hampshire have had enough of the twenty-year experiment of single-party rule in the governor's office, which has brought us bigger government, higher taxes, and a shrinking economy. We are long overdue for a change. It's time for results."
