NHDP - US Sen Kelly Ayotte Has Lost the Support of Her Closest Allies as She Continues Holding DHS Funding Hostage

As Guinta and Ayotte Continue Putting New Hampshire Communities at Risk, GOP Senators Including Lindsey Graham and John McCain Call for Clean DHS Funding Bill

Concord, N.H. – With funding for the Department of Homeland Security set to run out on Friday, February 27, the number of Republican Senators calling for a “clean” bill that funds the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) without unrelated policy riders is growing by the day.

While Kelly Ayotte and Frank Guinta continue to put New Hampshire communities at risk as they hold funding for DHS hostage, even Ayotte’s closest allies – Senators Lindsey Graham (R-SC) and John McCain (R-AZ) – are now calling on their fellow Republicans to finally put politics aside and pass a “clean” bill.

“When even Ayotte’s closest allies, John McCain and Lindsey Graham, won’t support her efforts to hold funding for DHS hostage you know she’s in big trouble,” said New Hampshire Democratic Party Chair Ray Buckley. “The only question is when will Kelly Ayotte and Frank Guinta finally stop putting New Hampshire communities at risk and tell Republican leadership to allow a vote on a clean DHS funding bill.

Yesterday, Graham told ABC’s This Week“I've never seen more terrorist organizations with more safe havens, with more money, with more capability to strike the homeland than I do today […] The worst thing to do is add gasoline to the fire by having the Republican Party defund the Department of Homeland Security."
