Exemplary Business Ideas Sought for 

5th Annual Tory C. Marandos Entrepreneurial Challenge 

Entrepreneurs with exemplary business ideas are invited to submit their concept papers in the 5th Annual Tory C. Marandos Entrepreneurial Challenge being administered by the Center for Women’s Business Advancement. 

All active businesses and potential start-up businesses in New Hampshire, with less than three years in business, are eligible to participate. All genders are encouraged to apply. Interested entrepreneurs will submit a two-page initial business concept paper by April 6. 


2015 Schedule:

  • April 6 - Concept Paper due to by 11:59 p.m. EST
  • April 22 - Ten Semi-Finalists will be announced
  • May 2 - Mandatory Business Plan Training for Semi-Finalists
  • May 15 - Semi-Finalists' Business Plans due to by 11:59 p.m. EST
  • May 27 - Five Finalists will be announced
  • June 6 - Finalists Presentations to the judges mid-day; Awards Ceremony early evening


2015 Rules and Requirements:

  • Business is or plans to be based in the state of New Hampshire
  • Entries can be a concept or a business that is less than three years old
  • Only one entry per per applicant (group or individual)
  • Applicant does not need to be a woman
  • If selected, individuals must attend all other portions of the competition as listed above
  • Previous finalists of this competition are not eligible to enter with the same business entity. All other prior applicants are welcome to participate so long as the applicant fulfills the above criteria
  • Anyone younger than 18 years of age requires guardian consent


2015 Prizes:

  • 1st Place - $5,000
  • 2nd Place - $2,000
  • Three Honorable Mentions - $500 each


How to Apply:

  • Write a Concept Paper
    • Contents: Your Concept Paper should answer:
      • What is the problem that the business solves or what opportunity is being taken advantage of?
      • How will the business accomplish its goals? (i.e. What is the business model?)
      • How will the business make money?
    • Format: Your Concept Paper should be formatted as follows:
      • 2 page maximum (not including cover page)
      • Cover page should include name of each member of the business. One person should be identified as the contact and should include his/her address, phone number, and email
      • Single spaced
      • 12-point Times New Roman font
      • 1 inch margins
  • Send your PDF Concept Paper to by April 6th by 11:59 p.m. EST
