Snapshot of the Federal Regulatory State


Released today, Ten Thousand Commandments is CEI's annual survey of the size, scope and cost of federal regulations, and how they affect American consumers, businesses, and the U.S. economy.
In 2014, federal regulations cost Americans and the U.S. economy an estimated $1.88 trillion—that amounts to nearly $15,000 per U.S. household. If U.S. federal regulation was a country, it would be the world’s 10th largest economy, ranking behind Russia and ahead of India. > CEI.org/10kc2015


Trade Promotion Authority: Addressing Some Criticisms 
Today, the Senate is slated for a cloture vote on the House-passed vehicle on Trade Promotion Authority (TPA) legislation. Some members of Congress are concerned about TPA, which would fast track trade negotiating authority, but in fact it would be a positive move toward ensuring the United States remains a competitive economy. TPA does not usurp Congress’ authority in relation to trade agreements.  > Read more
