(June 18, 2015) - Regrettably, but not surprisingly, Governor Maggie Hassan has officially issued a veto threat regarding a spending plan being crafted by Republican lawmakers in Concord.
While both the New Hampshire State House and State Senate have already passed a budget, a nine member negotiating team of legislators are working diligently today to develop a plan agreeable to both chambers. The bill would then need to pass both the House and Senate.
Derek Dufresne, spokesman for Citizens for a Strong New Hampshire, released the following statement:
"Rather than agreeing to work with legislators in the State House and State Senate to develop a budget that benefits New Hampshire families, Governor Maggie Hassan continues to irresponsibly embrace gridlock over progress. She fights for liberal special interests and the advancement of her own career instead of small businesses and struggling taxpayers.
"Granite Staters are already too familiar with the dysfunction they see down in Washington with the Obama Administration continually blocking good legislation at the whim of a veto pen primarily for political gain. The last thing they want to see is similar gamesmanship being played in the corner office in Concord."
