(June 19, 2015) - Governor Maggie Hassan officially issued a veto threat yesterday regarding a spending plan being crafted by Republican lawmakers in Concord. She should have been using recent hours to work feverishly with members of both parties to come to an agreement on how to fund our state. Regrettably, Governor Hassan decided it was more important for her to use her valuable time to campaign for her political future instead of worrying about hardworking New Hampshire families and small businesses.

Derek Dufresne, spokesman for Citizens for a Strong New Hampshire, released the following statement:
"Many have viewed Governor Maggie Hassan's threat to veto a budget passed by our legislature as politically motivated. That assertion certainly has gained even more credibility considering her recent campaign email. Instead of engaging in budget discussions as deadlines approach, Governor Maggie Hassan is clearly using her precious time and energy to bolster her own political email list. That's wrong.
"Granite Staters want a fulltime governor who focuses on helping New Hampshire families and small businesses flourish. Sadly, with Governor Hassan, we only appear to have another Washington politician looking for the next stepping stone in her career."
