NHDP - Open Letter to Sen. Rubio from former U.S. Ambassadors from N.H.

Export-Import Bank supports 37 New Hampshire businesses, accounting for over 2,000 jobs in state

Dear Sen. Rubio,

We noticed that you were in the Granite State today asking for votes while at the same time bashing the Export-Import Bank that is so important to our state’s economy. The Export-Import Bank, which not only doesn’t cost taxpayers a penny, actually earns money for taxpayers, supports 37 companies in New Hampshire, and accounts for over 2,000 jobs. They provide financing to allow American businesses to export American-made products all around the world. Last year, 90 percent of transactions benefitted small businesses.

As former U.S. Ambassadors, we support keeping American businesses competitive overseas so that they are able to thrive and create more jobs here at home.  Other countries such as China and Germany provide even more export support to their businesses and won’t stop just because the U.S. dismantles the Export-Import Bank. If we end the Export-Import Bank, as you propose, we will lose jobs here at home and become less globally competitive.

You hold the same position on the Export-Import Bank as the dark-money group that is hosting you today, Americans for Prosperity. It just so happens to be the position that will make it harder for our New Hampshire exporting businesses to compete in a global marketplace.
